1958 - Jan (?) - Dick Endecott - Mary Photiades. On my arrival in Nicosia I was given a bullet -proof vest (made of steel plates and weighing 9 lbs) and told to sign on as a special policeman so I could have a gun. I was posted to replace someone who went home after being wounded by EOKA terrorists. Expatriate girls were warned not to go out with anyone who was not armed. Hence my popularity! |
