September 1999 Reunion

Saturday morning dawned bright and sunny but deteriorated into wet and wild; still, a trip down to PK was made, taking in the Minack Theatre (now much redeveloped) and the Cable Station pub at PK for lunch.

At this former Exiles Bar, also much redeveloped since the 1970's, much reminiscing took place with the locals, including Messrs Tony Paling and Chris Relf. The valley has changed a bit since 'our day', mainly for the better, having demolished Howitt House (the main technical building built in 1978), Western House (Kev's flaming teleprinter building), and that luxurious new wing of Zodiac House that we inhabited in 1979 - did we really wear it out that much?
The rear entrance to the Tunnels They've also demolished that bit of Zodiac House known as the 'Swamp', probably just before it fell down.... The overall intent was apparently to return the valley to the look of the old cable-station days of the 50's. Sadly, Onny's hedge (through which he is remembered diving headlong one night after returning from an evening of women and wine in Penzance) was nowhere to be seen which really ruled out a replay of his earlier stunt. Team photo was taken under umbrellas !!
