| Bruce and Diane Rose (Diane
known as Dann to her friends) bought this derelict farmhouse in the Charente in 1993 and
restored it using traditional methods and materials. They planned the restoration so that one end of the house would provide
accommodation for themselves and the other would be a gite for guests and letting. |

| The gite consists
of one large bedroom with one double and two single beds; kitchen with microwave, washing
machine, fridge and cooker; bathroom with bath/shower and wc; large lounge with dining
area and wood burning stove. There is a terrace with space for a barbeque, sunbathing and
dining. The letting period is from
April until the end of October and weekly rates are from £180 to £230. |
| The gite is in Rouffiac, a
small village on the Charente/Dordogne border near the market town of Chalais. Chalais is
45 minutes south of Angouleme on the Angouleme/Libourne road - the D674. It is very
private with its own parking area and entrance. The garden is surrounded by farmland and
provides lovely views. |

| Nearby market
towns are Riberac, Barbezieux and Aubeterre. Bordeaux airport is 75 minutes driving; the
coast (Royan) 80 mins; St.Emilion 40 mins; Cognac 45 mins; Bergerac 60 mins; Golf (9
holes) 15 mins; rivers/lakes 15 mins. |
| Eating out is well worthwhile
as there are a number of good restaurants nearby serving local fare. |
